Session 4- October 25 Summary and Make Up. Submit it electronically by November 14.

In this session, the group looked at different versions of the Bible that teens and Karen brought in. They took one scripture verse and looked it up in the various Bibles to see how different the wording can be. They went over Chapter 2 of the Book and discussed the differences between the Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Scriptures. Homework for November 15: Read Chapter 3, but only pages 39-53 ( stop when you get to the heading African Americans and the Episcopal Church).

Complete Option 1 OR Option 2 at home and write below your findings: Option 1- Find at least 3 different versions of the Bible (King James, Standard, etc- can all be found online). Read the same Bible passage in all three versions of the Bible ( we read Mark 10:46-52- today's Gospel) and answer the following questions: 1. How are the Bible verses similar? 2. How are they different? 3. Is this story a part of the gospel and if you think so, why do you think so? 4. Is this verse part of the law, poetry, fiction, prophecy, parable, or a letter? how woudl you define these verses as a form of Biblical literature? Option 2: Take a penny and pretend you are living 1,000 years from now and have found the penny. It's an artifact; we don't know much about civilization except what we can guess from the artifact. What clues are on the penny that can tell us about civilization? Write down the clues and share it with your parents. Then answer the following: 1. What clues did you find? 2. What conclusion did you come to regarding the civilization? 3. How is this activity like what a Biblical scholar does? (Hint: interpret should be part of your answer!) *
